Living a Generous Life

How are you handling your finances? Do you handle your finances biblically? What does your giving to God look like? Take a moment and ask yourself this honest question... How generous are you toward God? Followers of Jesus are called to live above the financial uncertainties of this world. Stewardship is discipleship development. You are called to live a generous life. God has been so generous to us. God gave us His Son on a Jerusalem hillside. How generous, grateful and thankful are you with God?

God does not want you to live a life where you are struggling and living a life of lack and scarcity. That's not biblical! God wants to bless you - He is a blessing God. However, we know from the Bible that if we do not handle our finances biblically, then we cannot expect to walk in His blessings. Jesus says...

Matthew 23:23 "What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law - justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things." NLT

Jesus speaks very plainly here, "You should tithe." People who do not trust God in this area of their finances experience the following:

Fear, Poverty, Scarcity, Lack, Debt, Stress, Financial Pressure, Worry, Doubt, Selfishness, Bondage

This is what a life looks like when finances are not handled in a Biblical way.

When someone handles their finances in a biblical way, they experience the following:

Faith, Generosity, Prosperity, Abundance, Savings, Peace, Financial Generosity, Blessings, Protection, Sharing, Freedom

Let me ask you a question friend. Which of these lists of words do you want your life to resemble? Each of us must personally make this decision. Let me encourage you to take a step of faith, rebuke fear and begin to live a generous life. If you have never given, make a gift to God. If you give irregularly, go ahead and begin to give regularly. If you're not tithing, take that step of faith and tithe. If you are tithing, pray about giving offerings above and beyond to God. God wants you to walk in the freedom and generous life these decisions will lead you to.

I encourage you to grow and give to what should be most important to you - God. I know God will bless you as you step out in faith and Trust Him.

Thank you,
from Pastor David, the leaders and the team at The Bridge and Cross the Bridge

Giving to The Bridge Christian Fellowship:

At the Bridge Christian Fellowship, we take care in handling the gifts you have given to God. All tithes and offerings are gathered and processed by two or more individuals for accountability. In addition, we have a Board of Directors that meet quarterly to review the finances of the church. To go a step further, we hire an independent accounting firm every year to review all of our books to assure we walk in the highest standards of biblical stewardship.
